Those tell-tale dimples happen to the best of us; yes, even models and celebs aren’t immune. But with swimsuit season in full swing, you might have banishing cellulite on the brain—or at least reducing its appearance. This is the DIY to do just that, thanks to a couple of secret, lump-combating ingredients.

It is important to make sure you exfoliate in winter, make it part of your weekly beauty regiment. Dead skin cells reduce the amount of absorption you get from the products you apply, and increase winter dryness and irritation.

Why:

I often get asked questions about exfoliating. ”Is it necessary, to do prior to a spray tan”? In order to maintain healthy, youthful, glowing skin we do need to both remove old, dead skin cells and encourage proper cellular turn over. Exfoliating both removes the old dead skin cells and speeds up cell renewal enabling new healthy skin cells to grow.
Your body is continuously producing new cells to replace those that naturally die off. As we age cellular turnover slows down, especially skin cells. This slower turnover and excessive dead skin laying on the surface is one of the causes for dull, lackluster, unhealthy, or wrinkled skin.  Additionally, dead skin cells clog your pores and create blockage, wreaking havoc for your skin.
Knowing ’the why’ is only half of the story when it comes to exfoliating. It is equally important that you know’ the how’ so you do not cause damage to your skin in an effort to keep it beautiful.

How

  • Exfoliate skin at least 8 hours before your sunless session to smooth skin for even tanning results. Spend a little extra time on knees, elbows, feet, and hands.
  • Shave at least 6 hours before your sunless tanning session. We always suggest shaving with soap and water only — no shaving cream, as shaving creams contain lanolin (an oil) that acts as a barrier between the tanning solution and the skin.
  • Any waxing should be done 1-2 days prior to your sunless tanning.
  • If skin is dry apply a light water based lotion lightly and evenly to skin at least 2 hours prior to your sunless tan.
  • Do not apply oils at any time prior to or after your sunless tan.
  • Remove make-up prior to your sunless tanning application for best results.
  • After your sunless tan wear dark loose fitting clothing.
  • Do not wear wool, nylon, or silk during or after your sunless application and for at least 8 hours as DHA may react with these fabrics and cause staining.

Body scrub

  • 1/8 cup oat flour (you can substitute the flour with finely ground rolled oats, ground in a coffee grinder.
  • Don’t worry about any coffee residue, it is wonderful for cellulite)
  • Olive, safflower, almond, avocado or pistachio oil
  • Mix flour and salt. Add oil in 1 tablespoon increments until the salt/flour mixture lightly is coated.

My Secret recipe for removing cellulite and toning skin
