Clients, undergoing an acne treatment using Accutane can be tricky. If clients insist on getting the service done, I recommend doing a patch test prior to the session, to be on the safe side.
The treatment, dramatically reduces the size of the skin’s oil glands (35%-58%) and even more dramatically reduces the amount of oil these glands produce (around 80%).8-9. It also varies from client to client. When I first started out, there was little or no documentation on the subject. When a client asked me if it were safe, who was then undergoing an Accutane treatment, I told him the only way to find out, would be to try it with the promise he would give me feedback. A few days went by, the client called to say that he had noticed, a tinge of yellow color. This could have been an isolated case, but to be on the safe side, I no longer took clients that were on these treatments. There isn’t enough data when it comes to medication and spray tanning. Now my waiver form includes that question, are you on any Accutane program or take any medication? If the answer is yes to any of the above, I will advise them on the counter effects, with no guarantees. Each person varies, unless you have done 20 cases, you have no data to base yourself on. There are so many contra indications with medication, we can’t know them all. The best advise I could give the client, is to run it by their doctor.
Spraying clients with large pores. Spray Face area once and blot gently with smoothing velvet puff, this will avoid solution to seep in the pores.
Spraying Clients with Hyperpigmentation skin: is the result of either of two occurrences: (1) an abnormally high concentration of melanocytes produce melanin or (2) when melanocytes are hyperactive. For instance, sun exposure stimulates the production of melanin. Although it can affect anyone, this condition is more prevalent among certain ethnicities such as Asian, Mediterranean, African, or Latin. Hyperpigmentation can affect any part of the body including the face, hands, and neck. Using a light cream over the hyper pigmented area, this will prevent the DHA darkening the affected area.
