Here are nine ways to prevent skin damage from the sun:

  1. Avoid Sunlamps and Tanning Beds
  2. Stay in the Shade, especially between 10am and 4pm
  3. On days spent outside, upgrade to a SPF 30, reapply every two hours
  4. Wear UVB blocking sunglasses, covering clothing and hats
  5. See your health care provider every year for a skin exam
  6. Examine your skin once a month
  7. Keep newborns out of the sun
  8. Use sunscreen (UVA/UVB) of SPF 15 every day
  9. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside
